AVT 1.1 MANYARA/SERENGETI/NGORONGORO SAFARI – 8 DAYS

Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti, and Lake Manyara National Parks are spectacular, and understandably regarded by many as among the best destinations for viewing African wildlife of all the national parks in Tanzania. In addition, this trip also offers an option of one or two cultural discoveries, where you can find out about the way of life of the people living there, firsthand. These visits are at a modest additional cost, which goes directly to the villagers. Many tourists pass through these areas leaving only a cloud of dust, but with the unique Africa VIP Travel connections, we will enjoy some of the local culture. TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1 – Arrival/Arusha
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be met by a driver/guide and transferred to the Kibo Palace Lodge in the nearby town of Arusha for the night.

Day 2 – Lake Manyara, game drive
Arusha to Lake Manyara — Distance: approx. 2 1/2 hrs. Drive to Lake Manyara for lunch, then enjoy an afternoon game drive around Lake Manyara National Park. This park is famous for the bird life around the soda lake – flamingos. It is home to unusual tree climbing lions, a large population of elephants, and a variety of primates. Enjoy dinner and overnight at a hotel or luxury tented lodge with hot showers!

Day 3 – Serengeti, game drive
Drive to Serengeti National Park, arriving in time for a late lunch at the hotel, and then enjoy a late afternoon game drive. You will find the Serengeti to be endless rolling grasslands, crisscrossed with shallow forested valleys. It is the home to millions of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles and a number of larger predators, making this one of the world’s most famous wildlife vistas. We will enjoy dinner and overnight at the lodge or private luxury mobile tented camp that evening.

Days 4 & 5 – Serengeti, game drive
Enjoy two full-day game drives in the Serengeti, creating vivid memories of such remarkable sights as elephant families wallowing in mud holes or walking majestically across the horizon; lionesses grooming their cubs atop kopjes (large rock piles); a napping leopard in a tree waking up, climbing down the trunk to retrieve its prey from among the tall grasses underneath, dragging its prey up the tree and settling in for a meal; or a cheetah only a few yards away, spread out in a depression in the bank of a dirt road as if it was a lounge chair. Then back to the lodge or private luxury mobile tented camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 – Rim of Oldupai Gorge, Serengeti to Ngorongo — Distance: approx. 4 hrs
Drive to Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area for lunch via Oldupai Gorge, visiting a historic museum where what is believed to be the first human skull was discovered. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure with dinner and overnight at a hotel.

Day 7 – Ngorongoro Crater, game drive
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a picnic lunch. You will find that Ngorongoro, a collapsed extinct volcano, has created an incredible natural amphitheater teeming with all of the African big game. That evening enjoy dinner and overnight at a hotel on the rim of the crater.

Day 8 – Departure/Arusha
